The next game will have taken me OVER A MONTH to review. Some of these GOG games have so much in them especially when they are multiple games with multiple expansion packs! Back in the day, such a package would cost $200 + but now only costs $5,99. It’ll be out very soon.

I was in the process of reviewing Kingdom: The Far Reaches until I snapped. I just couldn’t take it anymore. It is an adventure game not unlike the CD-i Nintendo games. It is that bad. And I hate adventure games. Instead of giving it a 2% or so, I’m just throwing up my hands and pretending the game doesn’t exist. After the triple hit of crap of Teen Agent, VR Soccer, and Kingdom: The Far Reaches, I was ready to throw my computer out the window!
I’m going to focus on games that are good, or supposed to be good, for now on.

VR Soccer ’96 has been arrived to Post Console!
Yes, I am intentionally targeting these crappy games. I just want to uninstall them as soon as possible!
Feb. 3, 2013
Updated the Miscellaneous page to add in why you should get a joystick.
No reviews for the moment. They’re coming. I have like ten games being played at once. There is this one legendary game that is taking me a month to review.
What is really difficult is that some packages include like half a dozen games. I have to review six games in order to get one review!

Teenagent has arrived to Post Console! (*cries*)

Added the Ninja Gaiden Award.
There is this one game I’m trying to review that makes Dark Souls seem like a child’s game. It’s what is taking some time.

GI don’t have much time this weekend, but I was able to add Silver to Post Console.

I’m not happy with the website’s display or how some reviews melt over in text. Thanks to a generous benefactor via the PayPal account, I’ll investigate a better interface. I really do like the showing of the game boxes on the front page though.
Having done websites since the early nineties, I’ve learned that there is no such thing as a ‘perfect’ website. If you keep delaying while getting perfection, you’ll just delay forever. It’s better off to forge ahead and figure out what needs to be fixed here and there while you go. As in Dune where the spice must flow, on websites the content must flow.
I’ll probably switch to putting out one review at a time in order to speed up the pace.
Always feel free to make comments and suggestions. I love reading them.

Three new games have come to Post Console: Puddle, Capsized, and FTL.
Tyrian 2000’s score was reduced to something more fitting.
Jan. 18, 2013
A couple new ‘special awards’ added. They are on the Scale page.
New reviews coming soon.

I altered the colors of the website. I changed the background to white and the text to black. I wondered why I didn’t do something like this at first. Then I realized why: you can’t.
You are not allowed to change the font color. It is stuck being light gray.
Unless you pay WordPress $40 for customized fonts, you are stuck with light gray.
I tried putting in the code to change the text. That might work on some pages, but it doesn’t work with the comments and is easily broken.
I put everything back the way it was for now. I’d like to add more reviews, but I need to take care of this first. I’m looking for a new WordPress theme for this site. If you have any suggestions, feel free to email me at postconsole@gmail.com. I liked the Triton theme as it had the main page be a graphical layout where I could place game box covers that led to the review. Maybe there is another one like it.

Thank you for the feedback, guys! I’m working on your suggestions.
I added different forms of multiplayer categories. Each game will mention what type of multiplayer it has if it has any. Explanations of what they are is in the Scale page.
I also added categories for each Mac, Linux, and Windows. Instead of one library page, there are three separate ones for Mac, Linux, and Windows. Hopefully this will let Mac and Linux users feel this site is for them too. DRM free is our platform here and not a specific operating system. Because of this, I’ll prioritize games that run on all three OSes.
I’ll be changing the colors soon so it can be easier to read.

Post Console launches with six games: Alpha Centauri, Tyrian 2000, Hydorah, Ultima: Martian Dreams, Endless Dreams: Most Beautiful, and Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams.

Getting everything ready for launch…
So if these are DRM free will you be providing download links? It could truly be an online console if you can actually just go to this one site for all DRM free games. Sounds cool so far. Though I didn’t see any “scale” recognition for great multiplayer games. Some games are very shallow single player, but great multiplayer. Will be watching…
Hi Roberto,
Links are provided near the top of every review. It’ll say ‘Version’ and show a link to the game. I’m not going to put up all the game stores, but some games offer a package with a Linux version. Seeing how there are thousands of DRM free games and how much longer it takes to go through a PC game instead of a console game, I don’t think this one site will ever have all the DRM free games.
You raise a great point about multiplayer. Since most of these games are older, the online communities have moved on. We’ll see what the game offers us *today*.
The Scale is general value. It isn’t highlighting single player over multiplayer. A game won’t be punished for having so-so single player and having great multiplayer.
About how often do you think you’ll post new reviews? Maybe once a week?
More often than once a week hopefully. I can’t say when because each game is so different. Some packages include multiple games! I like to determine the value of a game by leaving it on my harddrive for a while to see whether or nothing I get angry that it is still on my harddrive. Bad games makes you feel upset that it is still on your harddrive.
I can always go back and ‘fix’ an incorrect review since they are living reviews. I’ll try to speed up the process.
Just wondering, what was specifically so bad about Kingdom: The Far Reaches?
It’s an adventure game using FMV with animated cartoons and lousy voice acting. You die a ton. Interplay was giving the game away for free due to how lousy it is. I didn’t review it because I felt I couldn’t review it fairly especially after coming from stinkers like Teen Agent and 98 Soccer. Time to stick with the better games before I go crazy!
tell me more about this polish girl.
